The Siena workshop takes place at Castello di Spannocchia 6 Miles South of Siena on 1200 Acres Of Private Nature Preserve. The Castello is a dream Castle built in the 12th Century and belongs to Count and Countess Stratton-Cinelli.

We will stay at the Castello (main villa) in large, cool rooms. There are six double bedrooms (single rooms also available) with baths. The overflow of students will lodge in the Fattoria attached to the Main Villa, slightly more rustic  and full of grace and character.

All three delicious meals per day will be provided in the Castello dinning room. Most of the produce is grown on the property and both red and white wines are from Spannocchia's Vineyards.

There are many walking Trails through vineyards and olive groves with ideal spots for drawing and painting. There is even a delightful swimming pool for cool dips on hot days.

The workshop will be under cover in the Limonaia from which we can see the noble Cypress lined grounds. We will have a minimum of 4 hours per day of instruction in the techniques of marbleizing, faux bois and  specialty finishes. Mural Painting and its many tricks will be addressed in depth. You paint on panels; water based methods are used. We will be decorating areas of the landmark Castello to perfect your newfound skills.
Ms.Vartan teaches the courses with the help of assistants and other instructors.

At night we will have some lectures on the history of Trompe l’oeil painting as well as Art History. Forays into Siena, Florence and Lucca are on the agenda.
